Even though it adds nothing unique to the classic Arkanoid formula, Magic Ball 2’s above-average graphics help it keep pace with its many competitors. Rather than tasking you with breaking boring old walls of bricks, the program lets you use your high-tech paddle to bust up 3D structures that look somewhat like buildings. Both the graphics and sound are better than those of many Breakout clones we’ve tested, and you’ll find the standard assortment of power-ups. Even though the ball seemed to move a bit sluggishly, we still had a decent time playing Magic Ball 2. The game’s feature set seems adequate, giving you options for adjusting the music and sound effects, and you also can choose to play with a joystick. This program’s biggest minus is its one-hour trial period, which may not give some users enough time to decide if it’s worth owning. Still, fans of brick-breaking games probably won’t be disappointed they downloaded this one.
